Jamie Chaffey - Vision - Energy - Commitment

Jamie Chaffey has been successfully nominated for the upcoming Local Government elections to be held on the 10th of September, 2016.

Jamie believes it is important for a local business person to hold a Councillors position on the Gunnedah Shire Council to ensure a clear direction is set with a strong focus shown from our Shire Council on business development, sound economic leadership, an emphasis on supporting existing local businesses and an encouraging attitude to diversification within our business sector to strengthen the stability of our region’s economy into the next decade.

Jamie has lived in the local region all his life. He was born in Quirindi and grew up on a farm on the outskirts of Tamworth. Jamie moved to Gunnedah in 1990, where he met his wife Judy Chaffey (Hockings) and now resides on acreage on the outskirts of town with his wife and two youngest children. His two older children have moved out of home to continue with tertiary education and trade employment.

Jamie is the managing director of the Stripes Group of Companies, which offer a range of goods and services to the local area. Jamie is proud to be employing over seventy local people.

Jamie is an active member of several voluntary local organisations. He is passionate about business and community and is focussed on delivering on his values of honesty, commitment and hard work to provide for family and the community. Jamie has been a member of the Gunnedah Chamber of Commerce and Industry for several years and has been the President through 2015 and 2016. Jamie is also one of twelve Councillors to serve on the NSW Business Chamber Regional Advisory Committee. Jamie is the current Chairman of the Gunnedah Community advisory group for the Local Land Services NSW and has held this position since 2015.

Jamie is a proud Rotarian and has hosted international exchange students on behalf of his local club. Jamie has been a member of the Carroll Bush Fire Brigade for many years and currently hold the position of senior deputy captain.
